It’s been one year since my very good friend and mentor, Socrates, came into my life. (Socrates is named after Dan Millman’s Socrates (Way of the Peaceful Warrior) and the philosopher.) Socrates is a regular human being in all ways, yet he is also a very special teacher. He taught me what it means to be a peaceful warrior. (I am still learning to implement!)
This has been the most transformative, challenging, evolutionary, rewarding and happiest year of my life. I expect that all years will continue to get better, on the whole, as at this point each and every day gets better. There is so much going on that many times I don’t even know what to blog. A lot of the most amazing events, I am not even sure how to put into words…Or at least they need to process for a while before I know what to think about them. At this point, Socrates doesn’t give many pointed lessons anymore, or at least right now he doesn’t. But he’s added so much to my perspective that all events are learning opportunities for me. (Of course, all events are learning opportunities, for all of us, at all times!) In that way, I am still coming to understand all that he has taught me.
I want to take this moment to say thank-you, Universe, for bringing Socrates to me. Thank-you, Socrates, for all that you have brought to me, and ignited within me. I appreciate you so much for the things you teach me. But most of all I love you for the human being that you are, exactly as you are.
I’ve seen some powerful mentors enter the lives of my clients as well. I get the feeling we all have opportunities like this *at least* once in our lives, probably many times. How do you recognize a special mentor? You’ll know because they will see you, when you thought you were invisible. You’ve been spotted. Don’t run away. Be still. Open your mind. Open your heart. Relax, you don’t need to understand it, or control it. Enjoy it. You are supported in your growth.
