Today on EZ Rock we talked about the maybe-not-so-great (OK, we know they are not great) messages kids can get from major pop culture, movies, news, etc. New Moon is a case in point. As a parent, how do you not completely stress out that your child is going to take some of these things seriously? (BTW they probably will take some of it seriously!)
My suggestion is to have an open dialogue. Share how YOU feel and the concerns you have. Reinforce the confidence you do have in your child’s ability to see truth. Enhance that ability by talking about things.
This may be somewhat radical to say, but I believe our ultimate responsibility is to love our children. We’ll do that best when we are in a centered, loving place within ourselves, especially when facing challenges in regards to our kids.
